Chapter 300 Minor Wounds
Chapter 300 Minor Wounds
Lin Yue floated silently at the very center of this scene of destruction.
The light of the Imperial Knight Armor God Form had subsided, and the huge crimson cloak was fluttering slightly in the energy turbulence.
Before me lies absolute nothingness.
Just now, the universe with a radius of hundreds of thousands of light-years centered on her current location... became completely empty!
The dark red dead star, dozens of times the size of the sun, has long since vanished, along with the remnants of several planets and ice giants surrounding it.
The nearby open cluster, which contained dozens of stars, also disappeared.
All that remained was a colossal, despair-inducing, wildly twisting and spinning spatial singularity, devouring all light, like a scar on the universe, hanging where the galaxy's core once stood. And concentric, now much weaker, ripples of chaotic destruction continued to spread outwards into deeper space, heralding the end of this region.
Apart from this singularity and those ripples, this vast expanse of space, spanning tens of light-years, is nothing but pure, cold, and deathly darkness. There is no matter, no energy fluctuations, and even the cosmic microwave background radiation seems to have been completely smoothed out.
Absolute vacuum.
An absolute dead zone.
Lin Yue calmly surveyed the cosmic graveyard she had created, a symbol of ultimate destruction. Beneath her armor, her expression remained utterly expressionless, as if she were merely brushing away a speck of dust.
"Hmm..." A very soft sigh, seemingly tinged with laziness, rang out in the deathly silence of the vacuum, then vanished in an instant.
"The noise... seems to have gotten a little bit bigger."
Her gaze fell upon the wildly spinning spatial singularity, then swept across the still-spreading ripples of destruction in the distance, and finally settled upon the utterly silent void.
"Fortunately... there really isn't a single single cell in the millions of light-years around this godforsaken place."
Having confirmed this, Lin Yue seemed to have completely lost interest. She didn't even glance at the cosmic landscape she had utterly reshaped; the dimensional barrier unfolded silently before her.
Lin Yue's figure, like a drop of ink blending into a traditional Chinese ink painting, silently stepped into the scene.
At the edge of the universe, this desolate void, which had just experienced catastrophic destruction, once again returned to its eternal coldness and darkness.
.........
Late at night in Z City.
Only a dim wall lamp was on in the living room, barely dispelling a small patch of darkness.
Yun Yi huddled on the sofa, a thin blanket haphazardly covering him. The television screen in front of him flickered, playing a boring late-night cartoon.
Although his eyes were fixed on the screen, his gaze was unfocused, and his fingers unconsciously caressed the soft fabric of the sofa.
It was past 1 a.m., and Lin Yue still hadn't returned.
No phone calls, no messages. Although he knew how powerful she was, this silent disappearance still made Yun Yi's heart feel like it was being gripped tightly by an invisible hand, suspended in mid-air.
Just as he looked at the closed door for the umpteenth time, hesitating whether to go out and look for it—
hum.
The sound of a key turning in the lock rang out at the door; the door opened!
Lin Yue stepped into the room from outside.
She has come back.
Her expression was calm, her eyes clear, as if she had simply gone downstairs to the convenience store to buy a bottle of water.
"Lin Yue!" Yun Yi jumped up from the sofa, ignoring the blanket that had slipped to the floor, and rushed to Lin Yue, his voice filled with obvious anxiety, "Where...where have you been? Why are you so late? I tried calling you, but your phone was off!"
"I'm so worried about you. I heard something bad happened again in Z City. The news is saying there are monsters fighting in the sewers, and several students have died. The Knights' Association has arrived, and everyone's panicking..."
"It's nothing." Lin Yue's voice was indifferent, revealing no emotion. She walked past Yun Yi, went straight to the kitchen, opened the refrigerator, took out a bottle of ice water, unscrewed the cap, and took a few sips.
"I dealt with some... trash." She put down her water bottle, her tone as casual as if she were talking about throwing away kitchen waste by the door. "It's a bit far, so I'm back late."
Monsters? That's the Knights Guild's job.
"Trash?" Yun Yi was taken aback, somewhat confused.
Suddenly, he noticed a wound on Lin Yue's arm as she drank water by the refrigerator.
The dim light from the living room swept across the outside of her forearm, revealing a shallow but clearly visible abrasion about two fingers wide to Yun Yi. The edges of the wound were slightly red and tinged with blood, which stood out starkly against her fair skin.
"You're injured?!" Yun Yi's voice suddenly rose as he grabbed Lin Yue's wrist, his movements so fast that Lin Yue didn't even have time to react.
"Hiss—" Lin Yue subconsciously tried to pull her hand back, not because of the pain—this scratch was like a mosquito bite to her—but because she was startled by Yun Yi's sudden action.
"Don't move! Let me see!" Yun Yi frowned, his tone more forceful and authoritative than ever before. He didn't give Lin Yue a chance to explain; the thought that "she's injured" was constantly flashing through his mind.
"It's just a minor injury, no need to worry..." Lin Yue didn't take it to heart, and with her body, she would recover in no time. But before she could finish speaking, her body was suddenly lifted into the air!
"Huh?!" Lin Yue exclaimed in surprise, her whole body stiffening.
Yun Yi actually bent down, put one hand under her knees and the other around her back, and picked her up horizontally!
Lin Yue's mind went completely blank. She had lived for so many years, experiencing countless unbelievable, thrilling, and even world-destroying events, but being lifted up like this... was absolutely unprecedented!
A strong, completely unfamiliar surge of heat rushed from the soles of her feet straight to the top of her head! Her cheeks, ears, and even her neck instantly became burning hot.
"Yunyi! Put me down!!" Lin Yue's voice changed, no longer the usual cold and calm, but filled with disbelief, embarrassment, and panic.
Yunyi's arms were wrapped tightly around her, and she found that her body was a little out of her control—not because she was too weak to break free, but because she was a little dazed by the huge "fright".
"No! It has to be treated! What if it gets infected? What if it leaves a scar?!" Yun Yi picked her up and headed for the door, his tone resolute. He didn't even look down at Lin Yue in his arms; his mind was filled with "To the clinic! Immediately! Right now!"
Lin Yue was held in his arms, her vision blurring, and all she could see was Yun Yi's taut jawline and rapidly heaving chest. She shrank back, burying her face in her hands, wishing she could disappear into the ground.
A wave of intense shame overwhelmed her. This was simply... utterly humiliating!
"You...you idiot! Put me down! I can walk by myself!" Lin Yue's voice was muffled, with a hint of gritted teeth, but the volume wasn't loud; it sounded more like a furious growl. She felt like she was on fire.
Yun Yi ignored her and carried her downstairs.
The stairwell was quiet late at night, save for the sound of his footsteps and Lin Yue's rapid heartbeat in his arms. It wasn't until he rushed into the 24-hour convenience clinic near the community, where the smell of disinfectant hit him, that Yun Yi regained some of his senses.
The clinic was lit by cold, white lights. The doctor on duty, a middle-aged man, was dozing off in his chair. Next to him were two young people, both with dark circles under their eyes, who had stayed up all night playing games and were waiting to buy anti-inflammatory medicine.
Yun Yi rushed in carrying Lin Yue, making quite a commotion and instantly attracting everyone's attention.
The doctor was startled awake and rubbed his eyes. The two young men also looked over curiously, their gazes sweeping back and forth between Lin Yue's flushed face and Yun Yi's face.
"Doctor! Please treat her wound!" Yun Yi realized he was still carrying someone and quickly and carefully placed Lin Yue on a chair against the wall in the examination room. The moment he put Lin Yue down, his gaze finally met Lin Yue's raised eyes, which seemed to be spitting fire.
boom!
Yun Yi's face instantly turned bright red, like a boiled shrimp. Only then did he belatedly realize what he had just done.
He carried Lin Yue... the whole way?!
What was he thinking just now?!
