Chapter 78: Otaku
Chapter 78: Otaku
Lin Mu smiled slightly and replied, "I used to play games occasionally, but since I started working, I rarely have time to play."
However, at that moment, Yun Xiling suddenly turned around, glared at Yun Yi, and angrily scolded, "Play, play, play! All you do all day is play games! You don't even do your homework!" Her voice was full of anger and dissatisfaction.
Yun Yi was startled and quickly explained, "Sis, I just got back, I haven't had time to write yet." But Yun Xiling wasn't buying it and continued to scold, "Then hurry up and write! All you do is play games all day! Don't corrupt your brother-in-law!"
Yun Yi seemed terrified of his sister. He dared not argue further and quickly stood up, saying, "Alright, alright! I'll go write it now!" After saying that, he scurried back to his room like a frightened rabbit.
Watching her younger brother's departing figure, Yun Xiling sighed helplessly and said, "Oh... my little brother." A hint of worry and disappointment flickered in her eyes. "His grades have always been bad, and his handwriting is terrible! Every time there's a parent-teacher conference, he begs me to go. If Mom and Dad saw his test papers, they'd probably be so angry they'd want to kill him." She frowned, a deep worry on her face.
Yun Xiling and Lin Mu were whispering about some private matters, while Lin Yue, standing to the side, felt somewhat bored. Her gaze unconsciously drifted to Yun Yi's tightly closed door, a sense of curiosity and speculation welling up within her.
She always felt that Yun Yi's younger brother wouldn't obediently do his homework after returning to his room, but would do something else interesting. So, she carefully stood up, her steps as light as a kitten, and quietly walked towards Yun Yi's room.
As she reached the door, she gently turned the handle, slowly pushed the door open, and then carefully slipped into the room.
When Lin Yue entered the room, she found that Yun Yi was not doing his homework, but was sitting in front of the computer, engrossed in playing a two-word game, muttering something about starting up.
The person was completely immersed in the game world and didn't even notice someone entering his room.
Lin Yue chuckled inwardly, thinking that it was just as she had predicted. She carefully tiptoed behind Yun Yi, then suddenly shouted, "Hey!" The unexpected shout startled Yun Yi so much that he almost fell off his chair. He turned around in a panic, his face filled with terror, and stammered, "You...you...how did you get in? Don't you know you can't just enter a woman's room?"
Lin Yue gave a mischievous smile, her eyes sparkling with cunning, and replied, "I just came to see if you were concentrating on your homework." Yun Yi's face turned bright red, and he scratched his head somewhat embarrassedly, muttering to himself, "I'll start writing right away, but please don't tell my sister."
Lin Yue blinked her big eyes, turned her gaze to his desk, and asked curiously, "Huh, but why can't I see a single book on your desk? Did you not take out your homework all morning?"
Lin Yue looked at Yun Yi with suspicion, her eyes filled with distrust. Seeing this, Yun Yi quickly waved his hands and explained, "Really, I just turned on the computer and haven't had time to get my books yet." As he spoke, he frantically unzipped his backpack, trying to prove his innocence.
However, when he saw the mess of books and stationery in his schoolbag, he suddenly froze. He smiled awkwardly and muttered to himself, "It seems... I forgot to bring my homework back..." His voice grew softer and softer until it was almost inaudible.
Lin Yue's eyes widened in disbelief: "What? You actually forgot to bring your homework back?"
Yun Yi lowered his head, his face flushed, unsure how to answer. He realized he had made a serious mistake, but it was too late to undo it. He cursed himself inwardly for his carelessness; how could he have made such a basic error?
Summer vacation is almost over, and he just realized he forgot his homework! That means—this kid hasn't even opened his schoolbag since the start of summer vacation! Lin Yue couldn't help but laugh when she thought of this.
Sister Yun must be having a really tough time having such a clueless younger brother!
"You...you stop laughing! Don't tell my parents and my sister! Otherwise I'm dead!" Yun Yi clasped his hands together, looking at Lin Yue with sincere eyes, his tone filled with anxiety and pleading.
Lin Yue wore a faint smile, a sly glint in her eyes. She didn't intend to easily agree to Yun Yi's request, but instead began to look around Yun Yi's room with great interest. The room wasn't large, but it was filled with a strong otaku vibe.
Lin Yue's gaze swept across the room and noticed a blanket on Yun Yi's bed with a picture of an anime girl in lingerie printed on it. She frowned. Looking at the walls, she saw they were covered with various anime posters, all featuring Yun Yi's favorite characters. There was even a strange smell in the room.
"Ugh~ This otaku is disgusting." Lin Yue muttered to herself, a look of disdain on her face. She simply couldn't understand why Yun Yi was so obsessed with anime and manga culture. If Yun Yi weren't so thin, she would have even suspected that he was a top player in some popular game.
"What is this?" Lin Yue asked curiously, looking at a glass cabinet.
"Hey... don't touch that! These are all my treasures!" Yun Yi pounced like a startled rabbit, blocking the glass display case.
"It's just a cabinet full of robots and figurines," Lin Yue said dismissively.
“You don’t understand! These things are very valuable!” Yun Yi immediately retorted, his voice filled with pride.
"Let me tell you why these figurines are so valuable! Don't underestimate these figurines, they are all limited editions, some are even the only ones in the city!" Yun Yi explained excitedly, getting all worked up when he talked about this.
Lin Yue still didn't believe it, pouting and saying, "Hmph, I don't believe it."
Yun Yi grew anxious. He hesitated for a moment, then opened the glass cabinet and carefully took out a Gundam figure. Pointing to the details on the figure, he explained to Lin Yue, "Look, the craftsmanship of this figure is exquisite. It took me a long time to assemble it. Every detail is lifelike, as if it really stepped out of the anime. Moreover, it has special collectible value because it is the prototype design of a famous anime character."
"These figurines are more than just toys; they represent a culture. For true anime lovers, they are priceless treasures."
"Oh, okay~" Lin Yue nodded perfunctorily.
Suddenly, Yun Yi's room door was opened! Yun Xiling walked in and looked at Lin Yue gently: "Yueyue~ Dinner is ready, come out and eat~" Then, she glanced at Yun Yi and turned to leave.
Yun Yi looked at Lin Yue and smiled wryly: "She only came in to say a few words today because you were in my room. Usually, around mealtimes, she just kicks open my door and leaves, she doesn't even come in." After saying that, he gently put the figurine back and closed the glass cabinet. "Let's go eat too."
