Chapter 23 Epilogue After the Nightmare Ends (3)
"Are you okay?"
Ming was the first to stand up, then slowly extended his hand, asking with a blank expression.
Upon seeing Ming's outstretched hand, the green-haired woman in front of her turned it away in annoyance and stood up with a somewhat anxious expression.
"I'm fine, don't worry about me. You must have your own things to do, right? Hurry up and go, goodbye." She patted her clothes and said irritably, then walked past Ming and jogged away.
Watching the woman's departing figure after rejecting his kindness, Ming shook his head helplessly, sighing inwardly:
'As expected, no matter where I go, my good intentions will be taken for granted...' Ming thought, and doubts began to creep into his mind again.
'Strange? When did I start becoming like this? Was I ever this kind before? Could this also be the effect of the [Spirit Crystal]?'
As Ming prepared to leave, he wondered why he had subconsciously shown concern for others just now.
Little did she know that the time she had spent with Sawa during her youth had already melted the ice in her heart caused by the previous ostracism from her classmates, so she would unconsciously extend kindness to others.
Thinking of this, Ming, puzzled, was about to leave the way he came when his ears, enhanced by spiritual power, heard the commotion coming from the alley he had just come out of. His expression changed slightly, and he prepared to go and see.
"Sigh, fine, I'll go all the way and join in the fun." Ming said, stopping his steps on the way home and turning to walk towards the spot where the green-haired woman had run off to.
Meanwhile, on the other side, the green-haired woman bypassed the area where Ming had recently left.
"Damn it, just you wait, you little lab rat! I have to be the first one to conduct research on that spirit [Flame Beast] that has something to do with its immortality-like abilities!"
The green-haired woman kept grumbling as she ran. Just then, she noticed the alleyway beside her, her expression changed slightly, and the corners of her mouth slowly curled up.
"Let's use this one. It won't make much difference if we use the [Display Device] anyway, as long as it's used in conjunction with our DEM's [Free Domain] optical camouflage."
With that thought in mind, she didn't hesitate to slip into the alley. Just as she was about to turn on the portable [display device] in her hand, her face accidentally bumped into the back of a thug who was bullying a little girl.
"Who is it! How dare you ambush me, the great master? Do you even know how powerful I, Tian Hengyangjie, am?!"
The thug turned around while shouting and glared at her menacingly.
"Hey~ This girl is pretty good-looking, much prettier than the one next to me, much prettier than the one I was just about to bully."
A flicker of disgust crossed the green-haired woman's eyes, but she quickly regained her composure.
"Hmph, how disgusting! I don't have time to play games with you, you little guinea pig. My time is very precious. Besides, I'm no longer interested in your low-level, useless experiments. I have more important experimental materials waiting for me to process!"
The green-haired woman muttered to herself, a barely perceptible hint of murderous intent flickering in her pink and blue eyes.
Just then, a corner of her robe was slowly lifted, revealing a crystal-clear scalpel that gleamed with a cold light.
However, Yosuke Amazuki seemed completely unaware of the danger that was lurking beneath the surface, and continued to approach her step by step. His gaze was captivated by the green-haired woman's beauty, and he couldn't tear himself away.
They approached her step by step, while the green-haired woman's scalpel was almost imperceptibly moving towards Ten Heng Yang Jie's neck. Suddenly, a voice devoid of much emotion broke the delicate atmosphere.
"What's that guy playing over there?" Ming stood at the alley entrance, coldly looking at Tian Hengyangjie.
Upon hearing the sound, the green-haired woman instinctively hid the scalpel back in her sleeve and turned to look in the direction from which the sound came.
Upon hearing this voice, Ten Hengyangjie turned to look at Ming, a disdainful smile on his face:
"Oh, I didn't expect a pretty boy to come and stop me at this time. If you know what's good for you, get out of my way right now, or I, Tian Hengyangjie, will make sure you don't leave this alley today." Tian Hengyangjie arrogantly threatened Ming.
Ming stared blankly at Tian Hengyangjie, a familiar feeling welling up inside him.
Ming recalled his experiences in kindergarten when he was a child, and suddenly remembered that this guy named Ten Heng Youjie had been beaten up by him a few times for bullying Sawa.
Ming's eyes narrowed slightly as he slowly walked towards Tian Hengyangjie, saying:
"Oh, it really has been a long time. Ten Heng Youjie brought a few people to fight me all by himself, and I even pinned them to the ground. How dare you continue to bully people?"
Tengen Yosuke's face instantly turned terrified as he stared at Ming, who was slowly approaching him. He muttered in fear, perhaps in response to the oppressive aura emanating from Ming:
"Damn it, it's you again, Gangfeng Ming... Today, fine, fine, I'll make you pay!" Tianheng Youjie took out a small knife from his pocket and pointed it at Ming.
"Excuse me, gentlemen, if you may, please step aside. I'd like to catch up with this old classmate from kindergarten." Ming said to the green-haired woman and the innocent-looking girl behind her, then struck a Bajiquan stance that was all too familiar to Tian Hengyangjie.
Seeing this, the green-haired woman showed a hint of helplessness and regret on her face and sighed softly. Then, she slightly stepped aside, slowly making way for the "good show" that was about to unfold.
Ming and Tian Hengyangjie gradually approached each other.
"You really haven't changed your ways. But if that's how you want to be, then I can only..." Ming said expressionlessly.
"Mind your own business! Today, I'm going to take my revenge!" Tian Hengyang shouted, and then quickly thrust his knife towards Ming.
Ming simply dodged slightly to the side, then grabbed the hand holding the knife and twisted it with a little force.
"Ahhh! How dare you..." Tian Hengyang shouted as he bit down, but Ke Ming quickly raised his foot and slammed it into his abdomen.
"what!"
With one blow, Tian Hengyangjie staggered back a large step and fell to the ground. Seeing this, Ming immediately stepped forward and stomped hard on Tian Hengyangjie's abdomen, causing him to shout out loud again before passing out.
After Tenko Yosuke fainted, Ming, who was standing on his stomach, spoke to the girl he had initially bullied:
"Hey, are you alright?"
Upon hearing Ming's question, the girl who had been bullied initially paused for a moment, then answered tremblingly:
"No...it's okay...thank you..."
"Okay, it's good that nothing happened. If possible, the police station shouldn't be far from here. Go there and talk to the police there and ask them to take this person away."
Ming casually gave the instructions, and the girl immediately ran out of the alley. Then she squatted down and kicked the knife that Tian Hengyang was holding next to her head.
Then, turning to look at the green-haired woman who seemed to be enjoying the show, Ming simply asked, "Are you alright? If something's wrong, go to the dorm and let him report to you."
Upon hearing Ming's statement, the green-haired woman shook her head, then changed her tone and asked Ming:
"Oh, what a coincidence? Were you following me the whole time? How did you manage to catch me so precisely at the right moment?" Her voice carried a hint of teasing and mockery, making one want to probe for the deeper meaning behind it.
However, Ming remained remarkably calm in the face of this sudden questioning. He slowly shook his head and said, "No, I just happened to hear some strange noises coming from here, so I came to check it out since I hadn't gone very far."
"Oh, I see. That makes sense, since if you were following me... I would definitely be able to tell."
The green-haired woman answered her own question, seemingly unsure whether to reply. Ming was about to leave when a scalpel suddenly appeared from behind, blocking his way. The green-haired woman coldly asked:
"So? Could you tell me your identity, sir? I don't think I've seen you before. Judging by your skills, you're from AST... or something else?"
"Huh?!" Ming dodged the scalpel, looking at the woman in front of him with a puzzled expression. Suddenly, Ming seemed to realize something and thought to himself:
'Oh, this guy's a magician? Damn it, I just wanted to do a good deed and help someone, and I could answer all the technical terms he used. How unlucky to run into something I didn't want to see.' But he still said it out loud.
"What are you talking about? What is AST? I don't understand what you're saying." Ming's tone was full of indifference and confusion.
"You won't talk? No problem, I have plenty of ways to make you talk." The woman produced another scalpel and was about to walk towards him.
Just when the situation was extremely critical, the woman's walkie-talkie suddenly rang.
'Ring! Ring! Ring!' Hearing the ringtone, the woman put down her scalpel and casually took out the walkie-talkie to answer it.
"Investigator Möbius? We've arrived at the crater where the [Flame Beast] recently emitted spiritual energy. Judging from the location, he hasn't been gone long. As agreed, please come and check it out quickly."
The girl on the other end of the phone said respectfully, her expression somewhat excited, "Okay, I'll be right there. Wait a moment, I need to take care of something."
After hanging up the walkie-talkie, Möbius looked up and tried to forcibly drag Ming to the scene to confirm, but Ming's figure had already disappeared from the spot.
"Tsk, he ran away? What a pity. He looked like he had some training. If he really was from another organization, then I would have had a more advanced experimental subject. What a shame. I was actually looking forward to seeing him again. It's a pity I have to go back to England soon."
Just as the green-haired woman named Möbius was sighing, Ming, who had escaped, was somewhat nervous while she was distracted by answering the walkie-talkie.
"Hoo... I just wanted to help those who are suffering, but what's wrong with that woman? I had a feeling she was being a little malicious towards me just now."
As Ming ran, he thought, "No, I still have to go help out at the mountain house today. I'll worry about these things for now and go help Uncle Iwahira and Aunt Saori. I'll think about these things later."
