Chapter 199 Bad Luck
Chapter 199 Bad Luck
Chu Deng and Jin Dahai had just arrived at the long-distance bus station when someone called out to them.
"Beautiful lady, sir, are you going to Beijing?" The man, speaking with a Tianjin accent and carrying a black umbrella, hurriedly stepped forward to hold the umbrella over Chu Deng and her companion, inviting them to join him.
"What do you mean?" Chu Deng glanced at the touts.
"It's 350 per person. There are exactly two seats left. We can start the bus as soon as you arrive."
"Pay after you get off the bus," Chu Deng said.
"Okay." The tout glanced at the two men's wrists, and seeing that they weren't wearing personal computers, he didn't ask any further questions and readily agreed.
To avoid their personal computers being tracked, Chu Deng destroyed both of them, planning to buy new ones once they were safe in Beijing. Fortunately, the journey from Dezhou to Beijing, even by long distance, would only take a maximum of two hours.
Chu Deng and Jin Dahai followed the man to a gray-blue long-distance bus. The air conditioning inside the bus was on full blast, and Jin Dahai shivered as soon as he got in.
"Sir, there's a blanket under the seat. If you're cold, take it out and cover yourself with it so you don't catch a cold."
Jin Dahai couldn't help but twitch his lips. Did he look that old? After sitting down, Jin Dahai covered himself with a blanket, faced the car window, and began to feel sorry for himself in the mirror. He fell asleep in no time.
He got up early to catch a flight to Beijing, and then had a thrilling and exciting escape by jumping out of the plane. Although he was unconscious the whole time, he was still exhausted and his eyelids were drooping.
There were about twenty people on the bus. The seats were spacious. With high-speed rail becoming ubiquitous, passenger numbers on buses have decreased, so the service has improved accordingly.
Jin Dahai was asleep to the side, but Chu Deng was not sleepy. He silently observed the surrounding environment and people and noticed that there were two cameras inside the car flashing red lights.
Since several accidents involving disputes between passengers and drivers occurred, buses have been equipped with two cameras, one at the front and one at the rear, with the driver isolated from the passengers.
"...Going to Beijing to see a doctor." A passenger chatted.
"Tap tap tap..." Someone was wearing headphones and using a light computer. The noise from their long fingernails tapping on the screen made Chu Deng frown. She couldn't help but rub her temples and look in that direction.
A man wearing sunglasses was typing rapidly, his lips pursed and veins bulging on his hands.
"Squeak—squeak—" The camera made a slight friction sound as it rotated.
"Crunch, crunch..." Someone is eating potato chips.
“It’s so noisy!!!”
Suddenly someone shouted, and the car fell silent instantly, followed by rustling sounds. Everyone turned to look at the source of the sound.
Chu Deng's heart skipped a beat. It came from the girl sitting to her right, across the aisle. Her friends in the seats in front and behind her had been chatting, seemingly planning a trip to Beijing together, but Chu Deng had remained silent the whole time.
"Xiaoxuan, are you feeling unwell?" her friend asked with concern.
Chu Deng pursed her lips and sighed.
"brake--"
As luck would have it, the car was about to exit the highway when it suddenly braked hard.
Chen Xiaoxuan slammed into the front seat. "Ouch—" Her already agitated emotions reached their peak instantly, and sparks appeared out of nowhere, causing the cushion on the front seat to burst into flames.
"what!"
"Fire! Fire! Who the hell started this fire?!"
"Fire extinguisher!"
"Holy crap! We can't wipe them out!"
In an instant, chaos erupted. To make matters worse, due to the emergency braking, the following vehicle, which hadn't slowed down, crashed into the bus.
The person standing to put out the fire fell flat on their back, and the person sitting wasn't much better off.
While everyone was distracted, Chu Deng helped put out the flames, but Xiao Xuan's flames started to spew out like they were free.
Chu Deng: ...
Chu Deng could only knock Xiao Xuan unconscious while she was awakening, and then grab the unfortunate child's palm to help her calm down her surging supernatural power.
Upon seeing this, Xiaoxuan's friend shouted, "Damn it, you female hooligan! Don't touch her!"
Chu Deng gave a blank "heh".
People really laugh when they are speechless.
