Chapter 292 The Secret of the Time Core

The moment of peace that Lily and her friends experienced when they returned to the real world seemed to herald the coming of a new round of storm. Just when they thought everything was over, unexpected changes came quietly.

At dawn, Lily was awakened by a strange ringing sound. The sound did not come from their communication device, but was like some ancient and mysterious call. Lily frowned and found that the sand in the hourglass in her hand was flowing again.

"No way, is this thing never going to end?" Apang muttered sleepily, obviously not fully recovered from the previous thrill.

"This voice seems to be calling us." Silver Wing said vigilantly, his hand already on the hilt of the sword.

Lily nodded, with a bad feeling in her heart: "We'd better go and take a look."

They followed the direction of the ringing sound, passed through several narrow alleys, and came to a mysterious area they had never seen before. It was shrouded in thick fog, and the surrounding scenery was looming, like the boundary between dreams and reality.

"This place is so strange. Why have I never heard of this place?" Lin Ye looked around, seeming a little uneasy.

"This may be a hidden space that will only appear when certain conditions are triggered." Lily analyzed in a low voice.

Just as they passed through a dilapidated courtyard, the fog in front of them suddenly dissipated rapidly, revealing an ancient stone door. The stone door was engraved with complex runes and a glittering crystal was inlaid in the center.

"This crystal looks familiar." Lily went forward to check it out and suddenly remembered that this crystal was somewhat similar to a certain artifact they had seen in their previous adventures.

"It's time to uncover the secret of this place." Silver Wing said. He gently touched the crystal, and the stone door made a low roar and slowly opened.

The scene behind the door surprised them. It was not the ancient ruins they imagined, but a strange space. Countless strange objects were suspended in the space, some of which looked like artifacts from ancient times, and some looked like products of future technology. These objects were quietly rotating in the air, emitting a faint light.

"What is this place? A museum?" Apang couldn't help but joked.

"This isn't an ordinary museum." Lily looked at each object carefully and found that there seemed to be some connection between them.

Suddenly, an old voice came from behind them: "Welcome to the end of time, young explorers."

They turned around suddenly and saw an old man in a gorgeous robe appearing in front of them. His hair was as white as snow, and his eyes were full of wisdom, as if he saw through everything.

"Who are you?" Yin Yi immediately drew his sword and was on guard.

"Relax, I mean no harm." The old man said with a smile, "I am the guardian of this space. You can call me the 'Messenger of Time'."

"The Messenger of Time?" Lily asked doubtfully, "Where is this place?"

"This is the end of time and the intersection of all time and space." The Messenger of Time explained, "The hourglass in your hand is the key to this place."

"Leading here? Then why are we here?" Lin Ye was a little confused.

The Messenger of Time's eyes became deep: "Your mission is not over yet. In fact, everything you have experienced is just to prepare for the final challenge."

"What challenge?" Lily felt that things were far more complicated than she had expected.

"The rift in time is only an appearance. The real problem is that an unknown force is quietly eroding each space and time. If it is not stopped, the entire universe may fall into endless chaos." There was a hint of worry in the voice of the Messenger of Time.

"Then what should we do?" asked Silver Wing.

"You must enter the core of this space, find and destroy the source of that power." The Messenger of Time said, pointing to a dark passage deep in the space. "That is the only passage leading to the core, but it is full of dangers and unknowns."

"You mean, we have to embark on an adventure again?" Fatty looked a little tired, but he knew he had no choice.

"That's right." The Messenger of Time nodded, "But you won't be fighting alone this time. I will send an ally to accompany you. He is very familiar with this space."

At this moment, a ray of light shot out from the hand of the Messenger of Time and fell on the ground. After the light dissipated, a man wearing strange armor appeared in front of them.

"This is the time and space warrior named 'Ares'. He will lead you to the core." said the Messenger of Time.

Ares nodded slightly to Lily and his friends, his face expressionless, appearing calm and composed.

"Are you ready?" Ares asked in a deep and powerful voice.

Lily looked at Yin Yi and Lin Ye, and they all nodded. Although they were a little nervous, they knew that this was a task that had to be completed.

"Let's go." Lily said, and she took the lead to step into the dark passage.

The passage was pitch black, with only the light in Ares's hand barely illuminating the way ahead. It was terribly quiet all around, with only the sound of their footsteps echoing.

"This place is really creepy." Lin Ye said softly. He clearly felt a sense of oppression.

"Stay alert, there may be any unknown dangers here." Silver Wing warned.

Sure enough, not long after they walked, a huge shadow suddenly appeared in front of them. It was a giant mechanical creature covered with metal armor and its eyes were flashing red light.

"Looks like we have to deal with it first." Ares drew his weapon and prepared to fight.

The mechanical creature roared and swung its huge metal claws towards them. Lily dodged quickly, while Silver Wing and Ares went up to fight without hesitation.

The battle was extremely fierce, and the mechanical creatures were much more powerful than they had expected, but Lily and her companions did not back down. They joined forces to attack the enemy, and finally, with a heavy blow from Ares, the mechanical creatures fell to the ground.

"This is just the beginning. The road ahead will be more difficult." Ares wiped the sweat from his forehead, his tone still calm.

"We're not afraid, as long as we can put an end to this." Lily said firmly.

They continued to move forward, and soon the passage suddenly became wider, and the surrounding scenery also changed dramatically. A huge time and space altar appeared in front of them, and a sphere with a flashing purple light was suspended in the center of the altar. That was the time core.

“This is the time core.” Ares whispered, “As long as it is destroyed, the source of that power will be eliminated.”

"It doesn't look easy." Silver Wing pointed at the huge statues around the altar. Those statues seemed like they would be resurrected at any time and become their opponents.

"We only have one chance, we can't fail." Lily clenched the weapon in her hand.

Just as they were about to act, the statues around the altar began to move. They slowly woke up and approached Lily and her companions.

"Here it comes!" Lin Ye exclaimed and quickly entered combat state.

The battle broke out again, and this time the opponent was more powerful than the previous mechanical creatures. Each statue had unimaginable power. Lily and her friends fought hard, but the situation became increasingly unfavorable.

"We can't go on like this!" Ares shouted, looking at Lily, "You go destroy the core, and we'll stop these statues!"

"Okay!" Lily reacted quickly. She saw an opening and rushed to the altar.

She leaped onto the altar, the weapon in her hand emitting a dazzling light, pointing directly at the core of time. Just as her weapon was about to touch the core, the core suddenly erupted with a strong energy, as if to swallow her up.

Lily felt a strong impact and was almost thrown out, but she gritted her teeth and persisted, and the weapon in her hand emitted a buzzing resonance in the energy.

"Come on!" Lin Ye cheered her on from behind, while struggling with the statues.

"It should be." Yin Yi put down the sword, his eyes full of fatigue.

Just when they thought everything was over, the voice of the Messenger of Time sounded again: "You have done a good job, but the real challenge has just begun."
