Chapter 12 The Mysterious Ghost
Chapter 12 The Mysterious Ghost
When you play RPG games, especially those with vast worlds, what makes you want to start playing again?
There are many reasons, but one is very important.
Many players miss some hidden levels, items, and story elements when they first try a new game.
Once you know these things, you'll want to unlock these hidden elements.
Hunter's Fate does this very well, satisfying all the player's needs for the game.
Hidden bosses will be added at the start of the game, and these bosses will also appear later in the game. Experienced players can choose to fight them, while keeping them well hidden so as not to disturb the experience of new players.
One of them is located within the college.
Deep within the academy lurks a terrifying primordial demon called the "Mist Ghost." In fact, no one in the academy knows of this monster's existence, let alone its identity.
No one knows about this monster, because it only appears in a normal way under certain special conditions. After all, this monster is usually in a dormant state.
However, as the game progresses, we will occasionally discover the demon's voice lines and find information about it.
The 'Mist Ghost' is an ancient and elusive monster that possesses the ability to blend perfectly into its surroundings, making it almost undetectable. Its appearance is shrouded in mystery; it is said to be a massive, shadowy entity with gleaming eyes, lurking in the thick fog that blankets the area, constantly seeking to enhance its own power by absorbing the life force of the strong.
However, it is said that this misty ghost has long since disappeared from the demon realm, for no one has ever heard of him. But its legend has never ceased.
The normal time for this kind of monster to appear is when the academy is attacked by invaders and the forest is filled with human blood, because human blood is the condition for awakening the monster, and before that, there is usually no blood flowing in the forest.
But for those who know how this monster awakened, the situation is different.
The trigger conditions are using mana and some health in this location. More importantly, there must be at least three people nearby.
'Whoosh whoosh whoosh'
As the fog around the clearing grew thicker, a deep roar echoed through the air.
The ground beneath their feet trembled, and an evil aura enveloped the surroundings. Dylan, Mason, and Sophia froze, their eyes widening in horror as shadows swirled and writhed around them.
Dylan stammered, his voice trembling, "What...what is this? What happened?"
Mason's voice was clearly filled with panic as he shouted, "We have to get out of here! It's not safe here!"
Sofia, her voice trembling with sobs, cried out, "Quick...hurry up and go!"
Their voices stammered, and fear filled their eyes. Regardless of their ranking, they were all Awakened. Therefore, they could sense the impending danger.
“Hehehe... That’s right... That’s it. Let me see your despair…” When my gaze caught the expressions of despair and fear on their faces, I couldn’t help but widen my smile.
When the world was stained the color of blood, crimson thoughts had already clouded my vision.
Soon, the demon I had been waiting for appeared.
The fog twisted and condensed, forming a deformed shape.
It was tall and imposing, a creature of pure darkness and evil. Its form was a swirling, ethereal mist, shifting and undulating as if alive. Its eyes gleamed with a sinister light, piercing the darkness and revealing an inextinguishable hunger.
His hunger now targeted those three men, because he instinctively knew which of the four men present was the strongest.
'Hu~'
The Mist Ghost pounced on its prey with lightning speed. Its long, slender claws, sharp as daggers, tore through the air, leaving trails of mist in its wake. The bullies had no chance to react; the Mist Ghost began its relentless attack.
"No! Don't come any closer!" Dylan tried to create distance while using his magic to strengthen his body.
But it had no effect, because the demon was faster.
"what!"
Dylan's screams echoed through the forest as the Mist Ghost's hand gripped him like a vise. The monster's touch drained his power, slowly draining his life force. Mason and Sophia collapsed to the ground in terror, forced to watch helplessly as Dylan was devoured alive.
Terrified, Mason collapsed to the ground, trying to escape, but the Mist Ghost's mist clung to his limbs, restricting his movements. His screams mingled with Dylan's.
"Ah...how wonderful...feeling your screams is so pleasurable." I could feel my body releasing dopamine and adrenaline. The excitement alone made my heart race.
"Help! Someone save me!" Mason pleaded desperately.
The Mist Ghost's outstretched claws swiftly pierced Mason's chest, draining his lifeblood with terrifying force. His agonizing cries turned into final, choked gasps, and then, deathly silence.
Sofia, tears streaming down her face, knelt on the ground, letting out a desperate wail. "Please! Let me go!" But the Mist Ghost ignored her pleas.
The demon's ethereal form intertwined with her, suffocating her and draining her magic. Her piercing screams echoed through the forest.
"No! No!" Sophia's cries reached their climax, then suddenly fell silent. Her lifeless body collapsed on the forest floor, her eyes wide open, a horrifying expression that was too much for onlookers to bear.
'boom'
As the corpse was thrown to the ground, the demon turned its piercing gaze toward me. Its eyes held both curiosity and recognition, as if it sensed something about me.
Suddenly, his gaze turned strange, and a murderous aura erupted from his expression.
A deafening roar echoed through the forest, and the Mist Ghost vanished from its spot, swiftly appearing before me. Its ethereal body spun and twisted, its eyes fixed on me, its intense gaze sending chills down my spine.
"Now it's just us left..."
The smile on my face had long since vanished.
"I will kill you, and your people too... I will kill all of you demons!"
When her face came into view, my sense of revenge ignited, and my anger surged.
The demon immediately reached its claws towards my chest, as if it understood my words. A lingering mockery shone in its dark eyes.
"Ah..." Blood gushed from my mouth as its claws plunged deep into my chest, while the claws on its other hand tore through my skin.
"It hurts...it really hurts..." But that doesn't matter.
Because that was my initial goal.
How do you think a novice player can defeat such a hidden boss at the very beginning?
That is to exploit its weaknesses.
The moment the demon met my gaze, the Scroll of Holy Light was already in my hand.
As I tossed the scroll upwards, I infused it with magic, summoning the power of holy light. A brilliant light emanated, and terror filled the demon's eyes.
"Roar!" A deafening scream reached my ears, and I felt like my eardrums were about to explode.
Just as the demon retracted its claws to escape the light, I activated the second one-time use item.
[Lightning ball].
'Click'
The instant the item was activated, a bolt of lightning surged through the demon's body, and electricity flowed within it.
"Ah ah ah ah ah ah ah!"
Immediately afterwards, another painful scream reached my ears. By then, my eardrums were bleeding from the inside.
The Mist Ghost struggled in agony, paralyzed by the surging lightning magic within it, and its passage into the shadows was blocked by holy light, making it vulnerable to my attacks.
I seized the opportunity. I channeled my magic into the blade, gripping the dagger, which was enveloped in a layer of red light, tightly. The holy light emanating from the scroll illuminated the clearing, casting a divine glow upon the demon. I lunged forward swiftly and accurately, the dagger aimed directly at the demon's heart.
Despite the pain from my wounds, this only intensifies the crimson magic on my dagger. The more pain and wounds I experience, the stronger the Crimson Moon magic becomes.
Time seemed to slow down as my weapon sliced through the air, leaving a beautiful trail in the crimson moonlight. The demon's eyes widened in terror, realizing how vulnerable it was to my counterattack. I felt a sudden surge of power within me, a power unlike that I possessed when fighting Dylan and the others.
"Die! Die! Die!"
The sharp blade pierced the Mist Ghost's chest accurately and repeatedly, producing a nauseating sound.
The demon let out a painful howl as its body began to dissipate and disappear into the mist surrounding us.
A sense of relief washed over me as blood dripped from my wound, mingling with the mist below. I took a step back, panting, the burden of the battle weighing on me.
As the adrenaline wore off, I could no longer keep my heavy eyelids open, and I felt my strength fading away.
And just like that, I lost consciousness, completely unaware of the changes happening around me...
