Chapter 1006 - 1005: Kanagawa
After Qin Ruoying decided to go on a honeymoon trip with Chu Ge and Qin Ruojing, she spent the whole day trying to figure out the best place to go.After much deliberation, she finally decided on Japan.
Since childhood, she loved reading Japanese manga. Anime series like "Dragon Ball," "Alalei," "Doraemon," and "Slam Dunk" had accompanied her throughout her childhood and teenage years.
Even now, "Dragon Ball" by Toriyama Akira is considered an exceptional work. As for the robotic cat in "Doraemon," it remains one of the most cherished memories for those who grew up during that era.
For Qin Ruoying, "Slam Dunk" is particularly noteworthy.
When she was in elementary school, "Slam Dunk" was airing everywhere. It's no exaggeration to say that at least half of the students nationwide were so influenced by this classic animation that they developed great interest and enthusiasm for basketball.
Qin Ruoying was one of them. Later, she accidentally found out that "Slam Dunk" had real-life prototypes, and many scenes could be found in reality. She dreamed of seeing them firsthand one day, and even after all these years, that desire still lingered in her heart.
Now that she's grown up, at least she can commemorate that carefree and passionate youth, that wonderful childhood inspired by "Slam Dunk."
It was a time of prosperity and free expression, whereas the cartoons aired for kids today make Qin Ruoying want to cover her face and deeply sigh...
As for Qin Ruoying's suggestion, Qin Ruojing didn't have any objections. She didn't mind the destination as long as her sister was happy. From a work perspective, since Tianqing Company was in the gaming industry, this could also be an opportunity to learn a bit about Japan's world-famous gaming industry.
With the sisters in agreement, Chu Ge was even less concerned; being with them would make him happy no matter where they went.
However, that night, when the three gathered in Qin Ruojing's room and Chu Ge agreed, Qin Ruoying suddenly realized a very awkward issue.
She and her sister couldn't speak Japanese, and their English wasn't great either. If they really went to Japan, communication would be a big problem. They'd be completely lost, and even hiring a translator would be challenging!
Qin Ruoying voiced her concern, and Qin Ruojing rolled her eyes at her sister, "Can't we just hire a translator before leaving the country?"
Qin Ruoying stuck out her tongue; well, that's actually a solution, and her worry was a bit silly.
Chu Ge shrugged at this point, "You don't need to worry about translation. Bringing one more person is a hassle. Having me around is enough."
Qin Ruojing and Qin Ruoying were stunned, and both asked in unison, "You can speak Japanese?"
Chu Ge nodded lightly.
Qin Ruojing blinked, "How come I never heard you speak Japanese before?"
Chu Ge chuckled, "Come on, it's not something worth bragging about, and you never asked either."
Qin Ruoying asked uncertainly, "Brother-in-law, are you sure? If all you know is words like 'Hajimemashite,' 'Nani,' 'Konnichiwa,' maybe we should hire a translator?"
Chu Ge laughed even more, "I can also say 'Yamete,' 'Ikou,' 'Konnichiwa.' With these, is that enough?"
Seeing Chu Ge's unreliable demeanor left Qin Ruojing and Qin Ruoying torn. The sisters exchanged a look, and Qin Ruoying said, "Sis, better hire a translator."
Qin Ruojing nodded, "I think so too."
Chu Ge rolled his eyes dramatically and said a bunch in Japanese, making the sisters' expressions increasingly bewildered, then grinned and said, "I told you to rest assured. Seriously, when have I ever failed when I said I could do it?"
"Brother-in-law, what was all that you just said?"
"Hehe, not telling you."
"..."
Qin Ruojing is always a doer when it comes to getting things done, and after returning to Lido, she started handling the relevant matters. With a few days gone by, everything was arranged and prepared.
Originally, for the honeymoon, Qin Ruojing planned for her and Chu Ge to leave first and let Qin Ruoying set out a few days later. However, since it involved traveling abroad, she decided the three of them would go together.
During these few days, Chu Ge kept an eye on two matters.
First, Chu Ge was concerned about the situation with the He Family. Just as he had guessed, after the storm at his wedding passed, nothing stirred up again, and the matter seemed to have never happened, left unresolved.
The other person Chu Ge was concerned about was Chu Shiyao. He would call her every day to learn about her situation after she went to the Chu Family in Kyoto. The result was that she was doing well and almost everything she wished for was fulfilled. Her freedom was no longer restricted, and she was enjoying a carefree life.
This morning, Chu Ge, Qin Ruojing, and Qin Ruoying boarded the plane. After six hours, as the plane landed, they had already set foot in a foreign country—a city named Tokyo.
In the afternoon, the three rested for a while at the already-booked hotel and strolled around casually. The next morning, they set off for the place Qin Ruoying had always wanted to visit—Kanagawa Prefecture.
Kanagawa Prefecture is one of Japan's first-level administrative regions, located in the southwestern part of the Kanto region, south of Tokyo, facing the Pacific Ocean. The prefecture is influenced by the Pacific Ocean's warm currents, with a mild climate and almost no frost. It boasts Japan's largest trade port, rich tourism resources, an excellent industrial environment, and a large population, creating favorable conditions for the development of agriculture, fishery, and the tertiary industry.
Kanagawa Prefecture's population is second only to Tokyo and Osaka, with an average population density exceeding 3000 people/square kilometer. Its total industrial and agricultural output ranks second in Japan, after Aichi Prefecture. Yokohama City is the administrative and economic center of Kanagawa Prefecture, and in the eastern part of the prefecture lie Kawasaki, one of Japan's industrial cities, and the exotic port city of Yokosuka.
Of course, what truly attracted Qin Ruoying to Kanagawa is that many places here are important and real filming locations for "Slam Dunk".
Upon arriving in Kanagawa, the three did not rent a car or take a taxi, because there's a century-old electric train here called the Enoshima Electric Railway, abbreviated as "Enoden", starting from Fujisawa Station and ending in Kamakura, passing by the Shonan Coast and some famous scenic spots in Kamakura.
Since they had arrived here, Chu Ge, Qin Ruojing, and Qin Ruoying naturally had to try this almost identical train to the one in "Slam Dunk", a train with a century of history.
They boarded the train, a nostalgic little train that slowly moved forward, sometimes weaving through mountains and forests, sometimes paralleling the coastline. Even if many memories left by "Slam Dunk" to Qin Ruoying had blurred, the scenery outside the train window still gave the three a feeling of unfamiliarity yet familiarity. In a daze, they involuntarily felt as though they were traversing through time and space.
That feeling was like being able to see Akagi Haruko wearing a school uniform at "the crossroads of fate" or the handsome, cool bike boy Rukawa Kaede on the coastal road.
As the train rode forward and was about to reach the station, music suddenly played from somewhere—it was one of the theme songs of "Slam Dunk", "Until the World's End".
Listening to this song, Qin Ruoying couldn't help but feel an indescribable excitement. Those who hadn't experienced that era or seen "Slam Dunk" could never understand that feeling.
Qin Ruojing quietly listened to the song, her heart first tingling and then a slight sense of melancholy spreading.
It turned out that her generation spent too much time immersed in youth atmospheres created by others. Perhaps none of them truly owned it, at least not in the expected way. So-called memories might just be someone else's dream...
Qin Ruojing and Qin Ruoying cherished different emotions in their hearts, and so did Chu Ge, although his thoughts were not as elegant as those of the sisters.
Well, hopefully, with these two eye-catching sisters, they won't run into any tactless guys, like weirdos or ******** or something...
Chu Ge's thinking, or his worry, was not undue panic. According to Asian aesthetic standards, this pair of sisters are absolutely first-class beauties. Just one of them alone would be enough to attract attention. When the two appear together, the degree of their radiance is definitely more than just the sum of the parts.
Let alone men, even women would turn their heads when they see them.
The train stopped at Kamakura Station, and amidst a flurry of amazed glances, Chu Ge led the sisters off the train, right as "Until the World's End" reached its conclusion.
Today's weather was quite nice, neither cold nor hot. The sky was a kind of deep blue almost never seen in Kyoto, resembling a giant, crystalline gemstone. The sea surface, brushed by a gentle breeze, emitted soft sounds, echoing with the calls of a flock of water birds.
The air here was slightly humid and fresh, making both Qin Ruojing and Qin Ruoying a bit unaccustomed. Looking around the streets, it was so clean that you couldn't see even a single cigarette butt or scrap of paper.
Following a gentle upward slope, the three walked not far before they saw the outline of a high school. A black sign hung on the weathered, somewhat faded bricks at the school entrance, and even if one didn't understand Japanese, they could easily see what was written on it.
It was Traditional Chinese script for "Kanagawa Prefectural Kamakura High School", the real-life prototype of Lingnan High School in "Slam Dunk".
