Chapter 861 - 860: Night Raid on the Printing Factory
Chapter 861 - 860: Night Raid on the Printing Factory
After ending the call with Chen Jue, a cold smile appeared on Chu Ge's face, and the sharp axe blade glimmered with icy light under the sunshine. With a swift motion, Chu Ge swung the axe down, splitting a log in half with a "crack".
"I hope this time I won't be disappointed."
Chu Ge exhaled, chopped a pile of firewood, and meticulously cleaned every room in the small building. Then he changed into the clothes he had worn when he arrived and waited quietly at the entrance.
At half-past nine, Liang Yongping arrived at the small building among the bamboo groves. He glanced at Chu Ge standing at the door and smiled slightly, saying, "You're leaving?"
Chu Ge nodded.
"Kid, let me give you some advice." Liang Yongping patted Chu Ge's shoulder, "When necessary, don't go soft. Unnecessary mercy will only increase your troubles."
Chu Ge gave a knowing smile, "Sir, I'll remember that, thank you."
Liang Yongping removed his large hand from Chu Ge's shoulder, smiled, and shook his head slightly, "I believe you can remember, but... can you do it now?"
Facing those deep eyes that seemed to see through one's heart, Chu Ge grinned, scratched his head, but didn't respond definitively.
Such a reaction from Chu Ge seemed to be within Liang Yongping's expectations. He looked into Chu Ge's eyes, "You let Black Arrow go and almost died at my hands. Do you regret it now?"
Chu Ge smiled awkwardly, rubbing his forehead.
"Alright, I won't force you anymore. I'm at this age and still don't know what's right or wrong in many things, let alone a young lad like you. Go on."
Chu Ge bowed deeply to Liang Yongping, then smiled and set off down the mountain.
That night, silence enveloped everything.
The suburban printing factory welcomed an unexpected guest; neither the fence nor the iron gate posed any obstacle to him. He moved like a ghost wandering in the darkness, silently and continuously advancing.
Chu Ge was that ghost. Before taking decisive action, he needed to scout the place, assess the environment, and determine the most suitable route of action.
The printing factory was large, but fortunately, Chen Jue had given Chu Ge a description of its layout in advance, allowing him to avoid detours. Soon, he reached the spot where Chen Jue's people were driven away, the path leading to the secret warehouse, which lay outside the factory grounds.
Chu Ge glanced around, seeing no guards or surveillance cameras, he proceeded forward.
After another hundred meters or so, taking a turn, Chu Ge finally saw a large warehouse, with two massive doors measuring about ten meters long and three meters high. Beside the warehouse was a large wolfdog, lying on the ground asleep.
Dogs have a sense of smell much keener than humans. Even in its sleep, the dog caught Chu Ge's scent, quickly alerting itself, fixing its gaze in Chu Ge's direction and growling fiercely, as if warning him not to come closer.
Chu Ge observed the alert wolfdog from a distance, then surveyed the surroundings. Upon seeing a small object, he curled his lips slightly into a smile, his figure darting like lightning. He picked up a small stone and threw it at the dog.
Chu Ge's stone-throwing skills were impeccable. The stone hit the dog's head precisely, causing it to "yelp" immediately and then bark furiously, straining against its iron chain with resounding clinks.
In the silent night, the angry barking was exceptionally clear. Over two minutes passed before a small door in the large iron gate of the warehouse squeaked open, and two young men holding rubber batons stepped out briskly.
These two were familiar faces to Chu Ge: one was An Youxu, and the other was Che Taihe.
The duo gripped their rubber batons tightly, scanning their surroundings vigilantly, but they saw no one—not even a ghost.
Immediately after throwing the stone, Chu Ge had hidden at the corner where he turned, making it impossible for them to find him if he stayed put. His action was merely a test to gauge the situation inside the warehouse.
An Youxu relaxed his right hand holding the rubber baton, perplexedly speaking in Korean, "Huh? No one's here? What's driving this dog crazy?"
Che Taihe glanced at the wolfdog, his brow furrowed tightly, speaking in a low voice, "No, it keeps barking in that direction; there must be something off there."
Speaking softly, Che Taihe gripped the rubber baton tightly, slowed his breathing, and cautiously walked toward the corner where Chu Ge was hiding.
An Youxu, without further words, tightened his grip on the rubber baton, fully alert, and followed in Che Taihe's footsteps.
At that moment, a sudden "squeak" sounded, causing both An Youxu and Che Taihe to halt. They then saw a shadow dart out from the corner spot, revealing it to be a huge rat.
"Damn, it was just a rat." Watching the rodent scurry past, An Youxu cursed irritably.
"I just heard the term 'dog catching a rat' a few days ago, and I never thought I'd encounter it today. That dumb dog is so damn annoying; I really want to stew it."
Che Taihe echoed the sentiment with a comment, finally relaxing his furrowed brow. He looked back at the barking big wolf dog with a face full of annoyance.
An Youxu and Che Taihe grumbled their way back to the warehouse, and as they passed the big wolf dog, each gave it a kick.
Unbeknownst to them, Chu Ge was not far away, silently cursing them as idiots, while he quickly analyzed the current situation in his mind.
Since An Youxu and Che Taihe appeared inside this warehouse and took more than two minutes to come out, coupled with the information Chen Jue gave him, this warehouse definitely has issues.
Two minutes may seem short, but did it really take these two that long to just come out of the warehouse?
Chu Ge thought the answer was no. From the sound of it, An Youxu and Che Taihe didn't seem like they'd just woken from a deep sleep. With the dog's loud barking and their quick reaction, they should have been out at the first moment. Even if the warehouse was big, a minute would surely be enough.
That indicates they spent another minute on something else. Although Chu Ge couldn't determine exactly what they did, he was certain it wasn't anything good.
As for the rat that suddenly appeared, it wasn't entirely a stroke of luck for Chu Ge. In fact, while confronting the guard dog and scanning the surroundings, he had already spotted the rat.
He first captured the rat and pinched its mouth shut to silence it, then threw a stone towards the dog with the intention of using the rat for this very moment.
Of course, even if the rat didn't distract An Youxu and Che Taihe, it didn't matter. Without making a sound, Chu Ge could quickly climb the building next to him with ease.
Hearing the small door of the warehouse close, Chu Ge's lips curled up in a mocking, icy arc.
Ha... just because they're so concerned about this place, the problems with this warehouse are surely significant. It's time for Chu Ge to "revive."
Of course, the first thing after "reviving" is to give these people a surprise. He hopes... they won't like his gift.
Chu Ge quietly left the printing factory just as quietly as he came. The entire time, except for the rat and the dutiful but unfortunate big wolf dog that got kicked twice, no one noticed his presence.
Under the night sky, Chu Ge arrived at a small inn. Lying on the bed, he went through the plans for the next day in his mind one by one, ensuring there were no oversights before finally trying to sleep.
However, Chu Ge, who usually falls asleep easily, found himself restless.
Thinking about it, he felt quite guilty. Ever since he started being with Qin Ruojing, this wasn't the first time he vanished from her side, and this time was the longest.
Barring any surprises, Qin Ruojing probably already heard about his "death." He really couldn't imagine how she must be feeling right now.
Sigh...
He wanted to be a good husband, but up till now, he felt he's done far too little for Qin Ruojing. Once this is over, he must spend quality time with her—watching movies, strolling in the park, swinging on the swings...
Thinking of this, a silly smile appeared on Chu Ge's face. Honestly, he didn't even know what else he could do with Qin Ruojing; in any case, he'd just do whatever she likes, as long as she's happy.
As he thought about it, his mind drifted back to Liang Yongping's picturesque bamboo forest. These past few days, his gains have been immense.
Especially when reading Liang Yongping's diary, he felt as if his mind and soul were undergoing a baptism; although he didn't consider himself particularly sentimental, he couldn't help but repeatedly fall into sighs and contemplation.
"At critical moments, don't be soft-hearted. Unnecessary mercy only adds to your troubles."
It was like he could hear Liang Yongping's parting words echoing in his ears, prompting Chu Ge to ponder a question.
If this were happening to Liang Yongping, what would this seasoned elder do?
He'd likely adopt the most direct method, silently eliminating Li Zheming and his cronies, right?
Actually, Chu Ge had considered this approach, too. He wasn't incapable of it, but as he calmed down, he realized he didn't want to.
The morning sun dispelled the night's darkness, heralding a new day.
Chu Ge woke up early, and the first thing he did was dial Chen Jue's number.
Now, he was ready to direct a great show—a show of cooperation between the police and the people, removing a menace for the public good.
