Chapter 874 - 873: Rooftop Deathmatch (Part 2)

Suspended in mid-air, Jin Haohun watched Chu Ge, who was standing up on the edge of the rooftop in the distance, with an extremely complex expression.Impressive, truly impressive, even more so than I imagined! Just for this move alone, Park Sungjin's defeat at his hands was not simply due to carelessness...

Jin Haohun secretly sighed and then his gaze sharpened; this was clearly not the time to admire his opponent, as this death duel was far from over!

He still had more than one trump card up his sleeve!

Quickly reaching into a pocket, Jin Haohun pulled out an object shaped like a handgun but with a caliber as thick as the combined width of three adult fingers and about twenty centimeters long. He looked toward the building's outer wall and fiercely pulled the trigger.

"Thwack!"

With a soft sound, a barely visible dark line shot out into the night, followed by a shattering crash as a twelfth-floor window burst into pieces.

As a few shards of glass fell, Jin Haohun stopped his descent. He pressed a small protrusion the size of a soybean on the left side of the specially-made grappling gun, and his body was suddenly propelled toward the window by a barely visible but extremely durable thin line.

Jin Haohun crossed his arms in front of him to protect his head, curling his body as tightly as possible. With another loud crash, he smashed through the twelfth-floor window and entered the room inside.

What seemed convoluted was in reality merely a matter of moments. As Chu Ge stood up from the edge of the rooftop and turned his head, he saw Jin Haohun shattering the glass and slipping into the building.

Chu Ge frowned and quickly ran to the entrance staircase connecting the rooftop to the inside of the building. He genuinely didn't expect Jin Haohun to have so many tricks up his sleeve!

During his earlier encounter with Jin Haohun, Chu Ge withdrew his hand because he suddenly noticed there was something peculiar about Jin Haohun's shoes.

At first glance, those shoes looked like ordinary Korean-style leather shoes, but when Jin Haohun kicked with full force, a blade suddenly protruded from the tip.

The blade wasn't long, only about three to four centimeters, but it was clearly treated with a special process that made it completely non-reflective. In this dark night, it was even harder to detect.

First the shoes with hidden blades, and then the grappling gun that most people have never even heard of—Jin Haohun certainly prepared well for today's deadly confrontation.

But no matter what, today he definitely cannot let Jin Haohun get away. There needs to be a resolution between them!

On the twelfth floor, in a pitch-dark room, Jin Haohun landed on his feet. He didn't bother with retrieving the grappling hook lodged in the windowsill or attending to the small cuts made by the glass shards. Casually tossing aside the specially-made grappling gun that saved his life, he felt he wouldn't need it for what was coming next.

Drip, drip—blood trickled from Jin Haohun's head, arms, and legs. He raised his arm, licking one of the wounds. The metallic taste blossomed on his taste buds.

Spitting out a mouthful of bloody saliva, a crooked grin appeared on Jin Haohun's face as he pulled out a small, unmarked bottle from his pocket, about five centimeters tall and the thickness of an adult's thumb, eyes filled with a mix of frenzy and hesitation.

Jin Haohun licked his lips and exhaled a long breath, "Finally, it's time to use this thing, huh? They say it's a wonderfully exquisite taste..."

With a flick of his thumb, he popped open the cap, bringing the bottle close to his mouth. Hesitating for two seconds, he ultimately capped it again and returned it to his jacket pocket.

"Tap, tap..."

Urgent footsteps echoed from behind the door, sounding like two people. One was from above, likely to be Chu Ge, and the other from below—probably a patrolling security guard.

Jin Haohun reached into his pocket, touched the small bottle again, exhaled rapidly, bent down to pick up a shard of glass, and then kicked the door hard.

With a bang, the door crashed to the ground, and Jin Haohun stepped out from inside.

In the corridor, a security guard appeared first, flashlight in hand. "Who are you? How did you get in here?"

Chu Ge also came running down from above, shouting at the guard on the other side, "Get out of here! Now!"

"You guys... uh..."

The security guard tried to say something more, but with a flick of Jin Haohun's right hand, a sharp piece of glass embedded in the guard's neck. His eyes widened, mouth opening in a desperate attempt to speak, but no coherent words came out.

Swaying briefly, the guard fell softly to the ground, his flashlight dropping and spinning a couple of times before both lay still, leaving only a beam of light that seemed to express unspeakable regret.

Staring at the innocent security guard lying dead in a pool of his own blood, Chu Ge clenched his fists tightly, feeling intense remorse and self-blame. Although he barely knew the guard, it was still a human life lost!

If he hadn't been hoping to learn something from Jin Haohun earlier, had he gone all out to kill him at first sight, then this security guard wouldn't have faced such a disaster!

"What? Are you angry? Hehe, isn't it just an insignificant security guard? What's there to be upset about?"

By his ear, Jin Haohun's voice filled with a hint of sarcasm came, and Chu Ge moved his gaze away from the security guard, squinted, said nothing, drew two daggers, held the handles backward, and walked decisively towards Jin Haohun.

Chu Ge didn't walk fast, but with every step he took, he exuded more hostility, and the daggers in his hands gleamed menacingly.

Watching Chu Ge getting closer, the hint of mockery on Jin Haohun's face gradually turned into solemnity, and a tremendous sense of crisis continually spread in his heart, as if the air was getting heavier, making it difficult for him to breathe.

Jin Haohun's brow furrowed tightly, realizing he could no longer hesitate. Otherwise, under this pressure, he feared he wouldn't even be able to perform at his usual strength. If he no longer had the chance to hesitate later, then what was there to hesitate about now?

Jin Haohun gritted his teeth fiercely, finally making up his mind. When Chu Ge was still five or six meters away, he retreated into the room, opened the medicine bottle, poured out a dark brown pill slightly smaller than a quail egg into his mouth, chewed it, and swallowed it.

No reaction? No feeling at all?

Jin Haohun frowned; impossible, this was absolutely impossible! Wasn't it said that this thing worked immediately?

Damn it!

Jin Haohun panicked, and to make matters worse for him, Chu Ge's footsteps were getting closer! That sound was like a death knell urging his doom.

At this point, Jin Haohun no longer had time to consider anything. He grabbed a folding ladder leaning against the wall and, as Chu Ge appeared at the doorway, he swung the ladder viciously at him.

"Get lost!"

Seeing the folding ladder crash towards him, Chu Ge neither dodged nor avoided it, kicking forcefully.

With a "clang," the ladder, initially aimed at Chu Ge, was kicked back directly, harshly hitting Jin Haohun, causing him to stagger back two steps, nearly falling to the ground.

"Die!"

Before Jin Haohun could stabilize himself, Chu Ge lunged forward with a stabbing step, coming up behind Jin Haohun, and with a swipe of his right hand from bottom to top, the blade instantly slashed open the skin on Jin Haohun's back.

Chu Ge's movements were swift, and the dagger was sharp. This cut was so quick that, even after slicing a long gash on Jin Haohun's back, he didn't even feel pain.

Fear spread in Jin Haohun's heart like a rising tide. He was unwilling to accept it. This pill was supposed to be his second-to-last trump card. How could it have no effect at all?

Would he have to use his last trump card now?

Jin Haohun, unwilling to resign to fate, as the blade struck his back, fiercely swung his elbow back in an attempt to hit Chu Ge's head or force him to retreat with this blow.

Again, a "whoosh" was heard. Jin Haohun's elbow strike missed Chu Ge, but Chu Ge's left hand, holding the dagger in a reverse grip, scraped another cut on Jin Haohun's belly—a shallow but long cut, measuring a good seven to eight centimeters.

Even though Chu Ge could have stabbed Jin Haohun fatally on his unstable stance, he had no intention of doing so. He no longer intended to interrogate him further, but if he didn't give Jin Haohun a few more cuts, it wouldn't quell the hatred in his heart.

"Ah!"

Jin Haohun finally let out a terrified scream. As he took the second cut, he blindly grabbed and picked up a glass ashtray on the computer desk, hurling it violently at Chu Ge's head.

Chu Ge dodged the ashtray with a flicker of his body, giving Jin Haohun a fleeting moment. The ambition that once filled his heart was now entirely replaced by fear. He turned and ran, using every ounce of his strength.

In truth, Jin Haohun had sought a death battle with Chu Ge today, indeed holding the resolve that he might die there. Nevertheless, the pill's ineffectiveness left him utterly discontent.

Acquiring this pill was a symbol of status, a recognition from his gang. But at this very moment, having truly taken it, without feeling the anticipated effects, he simply couldn't accept the reality.

"Run, run with all your might, run with hope!"

Watching Jin Haohun flee in panic, Chu Ge's face was full of a cold sneer. He had to kill Jin Haohun today, but before that, he needed Jin Haohun to taste the deepest despair!

Chu Ge pursued forward, feeling a sticky sensation underfoot continuously from the blood spilling from Jin Haohun. Chu Ge wanted to see how long Jin Haohun could run, how much blood he could lose!
