Chapter 347: Treasure Of The Dragon God.
Chapter 347: Treasure Of The Dragon God.
Valerian followed Boo-too through the entire place. The populace of the Bloomkin village spotted him. He could not help but smile at the pretty flowers hopping around and the human figures talking about him.
Boo-too said, "The last human to step here was your mother. They are discussing how you have an aura similar to her."
Valerian nodded and asked, "May I ask what favor my mother did to your kind, Your Excellency?"
Boo-too nodded and said, "The kin discovered the first dragon treasure twenty years ago. The stone was placed in the hidden vault when it was bought here. However, soon after that, we found that the kin was suffering. Hundred bloomkin dead in a matter of weeks. This was impossible because we lived next to the pond.
When we tried to investigate the problem, we found that it was all because of the treasure stone. Many of us tried to move it, but the stone could siphon off the mana. As soon as any of the bloomkin neared it, the mana will vanish, and the death aura will consume us."
Valerian nodded and was not surprised by this explanation. He had deduced it to be something like this. After all, he knew that the bloomkin were purely magical beings, and the treasure was not something they could handle without sacrificing.
However, this was what Valerian found odd about this treasure. He asked, "Your Excellency, why is this treasure always working? Other treasures have conditions that are needed to be fulfilled before they can be used."
Boo-too sighed and replied, "We do not know why it is like this, but this is the situation. I believe the stone was not triggered when placed inside the treasury. Yet, we do not know what triggered it."
Valerian nodded and said, "I see."
The young man did not say anything further but began thinking about the plausible reasons behind the trigger. He wanted to know what could have made this treasure act like this. However, Boo-too said, "It was because of this the magical beings held a meeting, and we did not find any solution for the following five years. The death toll made the Bloomkin decline to seventy members. In that desperate hour of need. Your father, who had come over in one of the meetings as the Mage King. said we should send a person inside the forbidden region and have this person place the stone somewhere else."
Valerian was surprised, and then he nodded, "Yes, my mother was a battlemage. So she could have supplemented for her mana loss with the battle aura."
Boo-too nodded and asked, "Do you not want to know what is a Mage King?"
Valerian replied with a faint smile, "He mastered the seven elements. He was a human king of magic. So, that much is understood, Your Excellency."
Boo-too nodded and came to a standstill. She looked at the scene before her and said, "We are here."
Valerian stopped and looked around. He only noticed that the scenery contrasted with the beautiful land he was walking through earlier. The place before him was barren, and there was no plant. Even the wind was not moving. He narrowed his eyes and asked, "This is the effect of the death energy?"
Boo-too nodded, and Valerian sighed. He could not help but wonder what it was like inside the Valley. Boo-too said, "I cannot go further. The rest is left to you."
Valerian bowed to her slightly and then turned around to walk toward the ravine. The scenery was making him feel uncomfortable. He had no idea what sort of energy could leave a place in this state. As he walked further on the black and barren land, he channeled the decay magic in his body.
The magic was like a warm blanket on a cold night. He did not understand if it was because decay and death were similar and that this mana was blanketing him. Valerian drew closer to the ravine and was surprised. He narrowed his eyes and peeked inside the ravine.
He could not help but inhale deeply. The young man had no words to explain the chill that ran down his spine. He took deep breaths to calm his mind and decided to think about what to do. After ten minutes of thinking, he decided to take the best route possible.
He took a short run up and directly dived inside the ravine. The two walls were filled with black stone spikes, and smog lingered everywhere. Valerian was already feeling cold and thinking, why had he even agreed to do this?
However, since he had no other option left, the Tyrant was too strong to be dealt with conventional methods. Valerian was almost in the mood to quarrel with his father for being so stupid. If only Divinus knew when to stop. The situation would have been different for him. He could have lived with his mother and had a better life.
If only Divinus were not so naive and stupid. Valerian fell down the ravine, and when he sensed that the ground was closing in, he cast a whip condensed from his battle aura and swung it to latch to the spikes on the wall.
Using it as a lever, Valerian landed on the ground with a dull thud. The black smog reduced the vision but was not completely shut out. The young man moved quickly. He knew where the stone was, and the Decay magic was helping him keep the death aura at bay.
Valerian had jumped in the middle of the ravine. However, the stone was somewhere else. He could sense the place with some mana, but the stone had no mana. The young man was rushing toward the location where he could not sense any mana.
His speed was fast and decisive. Valerian could not help but gulp when he sensed a few things moving closer to him. It was not his imagination, and there seemed to be figures lurking in these shadows. The decay mana was covering his vitality. Maybe that was the reason why these things were not rushing at him.
His footsteps suddenly stopped when he thought about what these things could be. His mana was dissipating. Valerian covered his body in the battle aura and rushed forward quickly. The black fog was getting thicker and thicker. However, behind the cloak of darkness, a small light was blinking.
His heart rose. All he needed to do was reach out and pick up the shining stone. At this moment, the world stopped, and a deep voice echoed in his mind.
"So, another one has come looking for death?" the voice was majestic, and Valerian could not help but feel his heart tighten.
He asked, "May I ask which senior is there? Please give Junior a chance to explain."
The deep voice grunted and asked, "Is there anything left to ask? Are you not venturing this place to look for the treasure of the dragon god?"
Valerian replied, "I may be looking for the treasure, but is my motive behind this search not to be accounted for?"
Valerian thanked the goddess for giving him wisdom. If he were to get reeled up with the pace of these questions, he would have died already. The voice grunted and asked, "Then amuse me."
The young man said, "I need the treasure to rectify a threat to the world."
The deep voice laughed and said, "Over the centuries, this is the first time I am hearing such a thing. Tell me what this threat could be, young human."
Valerian took a deep breath and said, "The world will last as long as there is a balance and limitations over people and creatures. As long as the creatures follow the rules, they will not bring disaster. However, the mistake of two humans gave birth to such a threat that the Guardian species has been trying its best to contain it within a certain region. Now, that threat is about to break free, and someone needs to deal with it."
The deep voice asked, "Why you? Are there no other capable humans to deal with this? Why not the king of dragons?"
Valerian shook his head and said, "The mistakes made by a father are to be corrected by a son. The person who played the biggest role in this whole event was my father. He lost his life later, but he never understood that his greed to break the binds and to know more was the reason behind this.
I cannot let this happen, there are people I love, and I must protect them."
The deep voice hummed and said, "So, what will you do after the threat is resolved?"
Valerian sighed and said, "I will return it to its rightful place."
The deep voice hummed and asked, "Why should I believe you?"
The young man replied, "I can swear on my blessings. If I fail to fulfill the promise, the dragon god can put an end to my life."
Suddenly, a light flashed and Valerian found himself standing on water, and before him stood a giant tree with pink leaves, but what shocked the young man was the golden figure above the tree.
