Chapter 286 Shatuo Team
Chapter 286 Shatuo Team
"Huh, what is that?" Guan Xun murmured in confusion.
Jin Chen followed her gaze, his expression indifferent and without the slightest ripple, as if he had known all along that something was hidden there: "It's a sand camel."
"A sand camel?" Guan Xun raised an eyebrow and pressed, "Is it considered a demonic beast?"
“Yes, that’s right.” Jin Chen nodded, his gaze falling on the blurry outlines. “They are huge, and to be able to move freely in this desert, their strength must be quite high. At least they can fight the sand worms, or even be stronger than them.”
Upon hearing this, Guan Xun's eyes lit up instantly.
The beast cores from those sandworms were already of good quality; if the sand camels were of even higher grade, the value of their beast cores would be unimaginable.
She suddenly remembered her companion's instructions and quickly asked, "Are they all fire-type? After all, my companion said that only fire-type can subdue these sandworms."
"Yes."
Jin Chen knew the person in front of him too well; he could tell what she was thinking just by looking at her bright, sparkling eyes.
His gaze shifted slightly, turning from the camel's direction back to her face, and he asked softly, "Do you want it?"
Guan Xun was slightly taken aback and looked up at him.
She had no doubt that if she simply nodded, the person in front of her would immediately take action, retrieve all the beast cores of those sand camels, and deliver them to her.
But then she thought about it again. There seemed to be quite a few of these camels. More than the beast pills, she was now curious about what these big guys were doing here.
"No, no, no." Guan Xun quickly shook his head and took the lead, walking towards those figures without looking back. "Let's go, let's go take a look."
"Okay." Jin Chen agreed and followed her.
As the two drew closer, the sand and dust surrounding the camels seemed to be dispersed by an invisible hand, disappearing completely in an instant and revealing a clean area free of wind and sand.
Only then can you see the full appearance of the camel.
They were rows of enormous beasts, each as big as a small hill, covered in long, drooping soft fur that looked incredibly warm and cozy.
They have two rounded humps on their backs, their cheeks bulging like two iron balls, and their limbs are slender yet strong, steadily supporting their heavy bodies.
Judging by its appearance alone, it doesn't seem aggressive at all; in fact, it's rather endearing.
These camels lie in a ring, completely protecting the central area and forming a natural protective circle.
Sensing someone approaching, the camels instantly became alert, their bent knees thumping slightly with a dull thud.
Then, one by one, they slowly stood up, their heads, which had been hanging low, were slightly raised, and a glint of vigilance flashed in their large, copper-bell-shaped eyes.
As the camels stood up, the camel boxes fixed to their backs were dragged out and swayed on the sand.
Guan Xun then saw the scene inside the circle clearly. There were quite a few people hidden inside, all of them looking haggard and peeking out.
A look of surprise flashed in her eyes, and she blurted out, "Is this the camel caravan the guy was talking about? They were saying they were in a hurry to get back, but they've gotten stuck here."
People in the industry were clearly taken aback by the sudden turn of events.
The sandstorm was so intense that it was impossible to open one's eyes, so why did it suddenly stop?
Moreover, these two strangers were able to move freely in the sandstorm without getting a single grain of sand on their bodies.
Very weird.
Could they have been buried alive by the sand and are now hallucinating?
The crowd looked at each other, and for a moment no one dared to speak.
It was the burly man leading the group who first poked his head out of the camel carcass.
Wearing a felt hat and with a weathered face, he glanced around at the two people in front of him. When he saw the area without wind or sand, his eyes lit up and he immediately revealed a shrewd look.
After calming herself down, she shouted, "Hey, girl, you've got it backwards! What do you mean by rushing back? We haven't even finished our journey yet!"
Guan Xun took two steps forward and raised his voice, "Since we haven't reached the end, why are we stopping here?"
The burly man sighed heavily, his face full of bitterness: "Young lady, you don't know this, we only entered the desert four days ago when we ran into a strong sandstorm, and we had to hide for several days."
"After the wind had subsided a little and we had only gone three miles, we ran into a swarm of sandworms! If it weren't for the sand camels forming a circle to protect us and breathing fire to burn back the swarm, we would have become their food long ago."
"That's right, we were actually thinking of waiting another day," someone chimed in.
The burly man rubbed his hands together and grinned, then changed the subject: "But young ladies, if you want to go to the north side, we can go together. Our camels are naturally fast in the desert, and they are usually very fast."
"If you were here, without the obstruction of this sandstorm, you could cross this Burial Sea Desert in less than a day, at a speed comparable to that of a sand vulture in the sky."
Less than a day? Guan Xun was surprised. This speed was almost the same as her flying journey, and she didn't need to consume any spiritual energy at all. It was a sure thing.
“Hey.” She nudged the person next to her with her elbow. “Let’s follow the camel caravan.”
"Okay." Jin Chen lowered his eyes to look at his side where he had been touched and replied.
Just as he agreed, a soft, coquettish female voice suddenly rang out from the carriage he had been pulled out of: "Oh dear, what's going on? You're finally out?"
Immediately afterwards, a figure lifted the carriage curtain and peeked out.
The person was dressed in blue and had a slender figure, but what was revealed was a man's face. His voice and appearance created a huge contrast, a concrete manifestation of a supple body and strong physique.
The man first looked around blankly, and when he saw that there was no wind or sand around him, only a vast expanse of yellow sand in the distance, he was instantly dumbfounded. He turned to the burly man leading the group and shouted, "What's going on? Have we arrived at our destination? How come there's not a speck of sand around us, but all we can see is a vast expanse of yellow desert?"
Guan Xun glanced at the person subconsciously, without even raising an eyebrow. His first thought was that a man with a female voice was most likely from Qianhefang.
Seeing that everyone was busy tidying up the carriages and organizing the camel saddles, and that no one paid any attention to him, the man became somewhat sullen.
His gaze shifted and landed on two white figures standing side by side in front of him.
When the man saw Guan Xun's face clearly, he was startled. His eyes widened and his fingers trembled in mid-air as if he had remembered something important.
The next second, he slapped his forehead, his soft female voice filled with excitement: "Y-you! It's you! You're amazing! It's you!"
As he spoke, he jumped off the train and ran towards them.
Her voice was so high-pitched and thin that everyone around her stopped what they were doing and couldn't help but look at her.
Guan Xun frowned subconsciously.
A god? That title sounds familiar.
She had only met three people from Qianhefang. Apart from the couple, there was only one other person left, based on how the other person addressed her.
This person should be Hao Aman.
